Unable to pair my Unleashed M

We tested as good as we can. But there will always be things we didn't find. If you found things that apparently don't work as they should, you can report them here so we can take care of them as soon as possible.

Dear Foolography,

I've just received my UNLEASHED with the M version, to use with my Canon EOS 6D and Canon EOS 80D (booth camera supported). When I try to pair the device the Android App cannot detect the UNLEASHED.
I've tested in booth cameras and the result are the same. I've tested in two Android devices (One Plus 8 and Xiaomi Red Mi 13) with no luck. I've followed the instructions (enable permissions, GPS, etc...)

While the camera is on, the UNLEASHED led is blinking in a yellow/orange light:

In the case of EOS 6D, I've removed the Wi-Fi features to allow USB connection and nothing happends :(

I had a similar but not identical issue with the first 22'M for my Nikons. It would never connect to the Unleashed app. I complained and got a replacement unit, that at least moved through *that* hurdle. Tons of issues later with dropped connections and lack of transfer of GPS data, though. Plus the M drained my camera battery really fast. Hopefully Canons at least are free of that problem?

Eventually, I gave up and regret the waste of hundreds of Euros for 2 flawed devices.

No problem with my 6DMII and an iPhone. So may be an Android issue.
Looking at your screenshots, the menu of your Canon (6D or 80D?) looks very strange to me. Using any hacks?

Otto

It's my EOS 6D with the stock firmware.

Hi David,

apologies for the delay in our response! This is an extremely rare case but we have a procedure you can try:
- try with an iPhone if you can
- download teh app "nRF Connect" from Nordic Semiconductor. Press scan and see if it finds an "Unleashed" or "Entagged". Send us a screenshot of that.

If neither finds it, it's a BLE X problem that slipped through our tests.

I've used the NRF Connect application and the Unleashed or Entagged device didn't appear:

Additionally, I've recorded a video during the process:

Dear Foolography,

have the same problem with one of my Unleashed '22 devices with my Nikon cameras. I ordered two Unleashed '22 devices. One could be paired without any problems to any device and worked with both of my cameras. The second one cannot be paired, regardless of which camera or phone I used. The LED kept blinking red. On this forum, I came across the freezer solution, and it worked—it was possible to connect to the Unleashed '22 for a short time. On the next attempt, after leaving it in the freezer for a longer period, I could connect again. I immediately started the firmware update, as this was supposed to fix the problem. However, the update never progressed beyond 47%, and the Unleashed '22 started blinking red again. Since then, it has not been possible to connect to the Unleashed '22; it kept blinking red.

I have submitted a ticket three times in the past few months by Foolography, but unfortunately, I have not received any response to this day. I am very disappointed in Foolography because of this!

I am urgently looking for a solution to get my Unleashed '22 working. Hopefully, someone here can help me.

Regards,
Marcel
