I have a Nikon D750 and the Unleashed N2. To protect it from the elements, I have covered it up as best I could with some pro-gaff tape.
I am considering upgrading to a camera with the more professional control scheme and 10-pin connector. From what I've seen, Nikon accessories that connect to this have a screw drive thread on the circumference of the connector, which mates with threading on the socket. This would be a very robust connection, and I believe they've done it this way to protect against the elements as well.
My question is very simple: doe the Unleashed N1 have this threading as well? I assume it would need it to have equal protection?

As far as I can see in this video, the N1 is not screwed into the port. So I guess that means there is no weather sealing either?

Yes, the round 10 pin connector on the Pro bodies is definitely more weather sealed than the rectangular one, so if you connect the Unleashed there, the camera won't be as open to the elements on the pro body cameras. But the screw in type connector does not make it more weather sealed - there's no gasket on that or anything like that.
That said: the Unleashed is still open to the elements - the socket at the top is always going to be there. So yes, you can add some gaffer tape, so it won't get soaked immediately, but it'll never be completely sealed.
If you plug in the USB cable to make use of some of the image related features of the Unleashed, that'll make the Unleashed a little more protected even without any tape, but you'll open the side flap that cover the camera connectors. so you'll lose your weather sealing of the camera there...

Interesting. I would have thought that the friction of a screw in connection provides at least some protection against the water? But maybe not.
I also just realised that... maybe this is all a storm in a teacup. I have an iPhone, but I don't worry about its exposed USB-C port either. In fact I can submerge it and it should still be fine. But maybe a camera port is a different story? There must be a reason these ports are protected by rubber flaps, right?
About the Unleashed: I haven't used the USB cable, and I don't think I will. The most important functionality for me is geotagging and remote control. If, other than the opening at the top, the Unleashed can handle rain, then I'd be happy just applying tape to the top and running it like that.
