Holy grail on EOS R not working [solved with RAW+JPG]

We tested as good as we can. But there will always be things we didn't find. If you found things that apparently don't work as they should, you can report them here so we can take care of them as soon as possible.

When trying to shot a Holy grail, I get this error message in the Unleashed app:

Error in english: HOLY GRAIL not available, automatic exposure setting failed too often.

My camera is set to manual mode, manual AF, RAW only:

What is the problem? Latest Firmware updated today.

Never had a problem when shooting HG with qDSLR and these camera settings.

What I noticed too: After taking a picture, the busy indicator on the camera flickers for around 7 sec.

Hi, thanks for the report. We'll definitely look into it.

The settings that I can see look fine. Could you show me the day limits too?

The busy indicator flickers because the Unleashed reads the image to calculate the LRT value for the LRT Sunrise algorithm.

Could you do a screen recording while you run 2-3 shots?
Thanks!

Here the complete setting. But why does the day setting matter when making a sunset holy grail?

Recording from what? App or Camera back display?
The busy indicator flickers because the Unleashed reads the image to calculate the LRT value for the LRT Sunrise algorithm.
If so, how can work a HG at all. At the end I have an exposure time of 20 sec. with an intervall of 25 sec. so the darktime is 5 sec., not long enough for Unleashed to calculate ???

After a week, an answer would be highly appreciated. 🤔
EDIT: I just realized that I had a typo in my 1st post. I'm talking about Sunset NOT sunrise. Sorry for the confusion

Tried another HG with the setting RAW + smallest JPG and this time it worked. So this setting seems to be mandatory and should be mentioned in the tutorials, FAQs or some kind of manual. It avoids a lot of frustration and angry users.

Hi Otto,

I know, it's a VERY late answer, but still relevant:
in Firmware A3.4.0 (and newer) we reworked a LOT of our image handling firmware, so it should now be safer with a much bigger variety of cameras and settings.

Still, you're right: it's always advantageous to shoot Holy grails with RAW+JPG - the RAW for post-processing in Software like LRTimelapse, and the JPG for the quickest calculations in the Unleashed. The JPG is always saved first by the camera, and is quicker to access from the Unleashed.
