no, I believe Google Services are not required.

...OK thank you
Pairing with my new Huawei P40 Pro
it does not work. The cell phone recognizes the N2 as
Bluetooth device. But not the app ...

You need to give the App permission to Location services. Google changed this with Android 7, if I'm not mistaken: since certain methods of discovering Bluetooth devices can also be used to determine a location (eg using Bluetooth Beacons), Google put finding Bluetooth devices under the Location services permissions. Unfortunately, discovering the Unleashed falls under the same, so even though we will not use your location until you actively turn on the GPS setting, you still need to give the Locations permission to the App. Other than that, the Android Bluetooth Stack has some issues every now and again, in which case turning flight mode on and off has often helped tremendously.
I hope this helps!

All authorizations are granted, only the Bluetooth authorization for the location cannot be set to "permanent". Only when Bluetooth is in use.
The old cell phone makes contact.
Maybe I'll try updating the firmware for the N2

It seems to be due to the hardware.
The previous cell phone no longer
connects with the Unleashed.
What can I do...?
Have a Merry Christmas ...

Hi,
There are a few known issues with Android, but unfortunately they are out of our control, as they come from bugs in the Android Bluetooth stack.
These things have helped many customers:
- turn airplane mode on and off again.
- clear Bluetooth cache
- clear App cache (or delete App and reinstall)
- restart phone.
typically airplane mode seems to do the trick!
