I have 2 unleashed's (delivered april 2021)
- N1 connected to D500: works like a dream
- N2 connected to Z7 II: first minor problem & suddenly stopped working.
Phone: Motorolla G5 with Android 8.1.0
Description:
Until last week:
- camera name is not displayed in the app. Only seriel nr: 005607
- photo review mostly didn't work, but I rarely use it on this camera
- slow connection start between app & camera
- I understood that connectivity for android would change in the next release, so I decided to wait.
Since last week:
- sometimes no connection between camera and phone: removing and reinstalling unleashed on camera mostly fixed the issue
- buttons on camera (review, menu, ...) give no respons: respons returns when unleashed is removed
- photo trigger on camera still works
- photo trigger from the app does not work
Same with or without USB cable installed
Have you any clue what I am doing wrong?
Problems with unleashed on Nikon Z7 II
Hmm, sorry about that.
Could it be that you installed the firmware downgrade from the android app last week?
on serial number 5607 we had installed a newer Firmware on the Unleasheds during production, which added a small update for the Z 6/7 II. If you downgraded to the firmware that came with the app, then this is what causes the playback button or menu buttons not to work as long as the USB cable is plugged in and the app is actively being used.
I will try to create instructions how to manually install the update on android in the next week.
without the USB cable, you should have no problem, even on the Z 7II. Image review would of course not work on the phone, but at least it would work on the camera again.

I put the Unleashed back on the camera without cable.
Still no reaction when I press the menu-button, review-button an most others except for the release-button.
I didn't downgrade anything (as far as I know ...)
The app on android mentions:
Serial Number 005607
Firmware Version:
A 1.4.8
B 1.4.10
C 1.4.2
Downgrade available ...
Just to mention: When I take a picture, remove the Unleashed, review the picture, I notice that the location info is not registered, although the app shows it is sending info to the camera.

The usb-cable is totally removed from camera and from unleashed.
Here the requested pictures:

It looks like the shutterbutton of the camera is half-pressed in the screenshot. (compare the size of the inner circle of the shutterbutton between D500 and Z 7II)
This could be a short inside the Unleashed, for example if moisture got in the Unleashed and a bit of corrosion is bridging two contacts.
can you observe if that changes when turning the camera off and on?

I see what you mean. I have 3 consecutive screenshots:
1. D500 power off; Unleashed reinstalled on Z7 II; still power off
2. Z7 II power on
3. D500 power on
I see the difference between the two
Anything I can do?

What is it with you guys? No reaction to my email. No reaction on this issue for more than 3 weeks.
Is there anything moving? Should I do something? Or is it just my money down the drain?
Greetings,
Bart Troost

Hi Bart,
sorry about that. I must have missed your last post.
I just checked again, and your last email we got was from just before this thread, so after replying here, I did not write the same thing again in an email.
From what you have sent so far, it looks like it might be a hardware defect in the Unleashed, that we missed during our tests.
We'll have to replace the Unleashed, but unfortunately, the N2 is currently completely out of stock as we are waiting for on more component before the next production. I will check with my colleague if we might have one more for cases like this.
Sorry again for the delays on top of the issue itself!
