N1 issues on D2Xs [solved with FW A1.4.7]

We tested as good as we can. But there will always be things we didn't find. If you found things that apparently don't work as they should, you can report them here so we can take care of them as soon as possible.

Interesting - just got my N1 and I get nothing in the app. Seems to pair but no controls. N1 w/D2XS.

Can you post a screenshot when you tap on one of the settings?
There should be an errormessage in the bottom half of the screen with a reason why a setting is not available.

I’ve attached 3 screenshots of the only 3 buttons that show a message. All the others are non-resposive.

Also of note, I can fire the shutter through the app from my phone (this was also the case prior to firmware update).

Also, I just updated firmware, un-paired, closed app, open/re-pair and that didn’t to anything.

Thanks...

Hi rsth,

your issue is a different one. Have you tried unplugging the USB cable and plugging it back? Maybe it's not making good contact or something?

Another reason for this message: is it possible that your USB cable is plugged into the Unleashed N2 the wrong way round?
If you look at the plug there is a slot on one side, for which there is a key on the one side of the socket in the Unleashed, but since that's made of plastic, it is possible to overcome with a bit of extra force when plugging it in.
The cable is supposed to point toward the lens on the camera.
Don't worry, it doesn't break anything to plug it in that way round - it just won't work. We were thoughtful enough to consider that some people might manage to plug it in the wrong way round ;-)

I hope it's as simple as that!

Hi Guys....

This is an N1 not an N2 and it's installed per images from your site (see attachment). I double checked connections and everything is tight and all the 'notches' line up.

I've just done some troubleshooting with the USB port on my D2XS to check that....here's what I've done.

1) Changed USB mode to mass storage, attached a cable, and successfully verified that I can access images on the camera from my computer via USB port on camera.
2) Plugged N1 USB back into camera with USB setting still in Mass Storage mode.
3) Tried the 'Metering' option in app and it said "metering is not available. USB mode not set to PTP blah blah blah". (screenshot attached)
4) Set USB mode on camera to PTP and turned off/on camera per instructions in app.
5) New message appears when pressing Metering option: "Metering is not available. USB is not active." (screenshot attached)

Perhaps a faulty USB cable from N1 to camera? I've attached more screenshots to show above.

Have you tried removing the battery from your camera? Not turning it off, that doesn't help. If you've tried that with no success, then my guess would be a faulty USB cable too. Do you by any chance have the possibility of testing your Unleashed in another, newer camera? Just to discard the possibility of some other fault with the Unleashed itself.

Hi,
I took the liberty to split this topic from the other one, as it's clearly a different issue.

Did you just get an email from me as well? Just checking if you're the same person, so we don't need to discuss everything twice. It would be a great coincidence if we had two people with a D2Xs having issues in the same week.

That is odd, indeed. We just released a new app version with a small firmware update. There's one USB fix that might apply to you as well.
It's still in review, but it should be available in the appstore in the next few days.

To be honest, I doubt it's a USB cable issue, because the Unleashed successfully detects the wrong USB mode. For that, the USB cable must be working. Lets hope that the updated firmware will address your issue.

Hi Oliver...yes, I just read the email you sent. I had submitted a support ticket last week before this thread lit up. So only one of us! If there's anything you can think of that I can do on my end other than what I've done let me know....I'd like to get this going as soon as possible for an upcoming project. Should we stay on the board here or do this via email? Doesn't matter to me.

Let's see if an update will help....

Peace...Robert

@Andy.....

Just saw ur post on removing battery... did that and turned camera back on and we now have a different message.

All the other options that had no response prior now report that 'USB is not active.' For example: "Mode is not available. USB is not active" etc....

And no.... this is the only body I have these days.
