on iOS, if there was ever an issue, we could almost always reproduce it.
is your firmware up to date? Is Geotagging turned on? If yes, does the same thing happen with Geotagging turned off? What speed is your SD Card?

Just FYI why this helped: On Canon, we have to restart USB (in two different modes) to be able to save GPS data to the photos, then switch back to be able to see the settings. The information that a photo was saved comes some time after the photo is taken, which depends very much on the speed of the camera, and might have sped up with the camera firmware update.
If that info comes at exactly the time we restart USB, we can miss it, and therefore can't transfer the photo. That's why I was asking about GPS and SD card speed.
