I too found it difficult to get it but it really does work on a D500. You don't need the full size on the USB port. You only need to put it where it will fit and part of the USB port on the camera will have nothing. Drove me nuts! It works:)

Given the limits of the various displays I would take a histogram over a better image. Unless I can get a nice image on an iPad Air 2 I would rather get an 8 bit histogram. It's information I can really use when shooting.

Long exposure should be possible if the user must manually set bulb mode. I don't know of a way to set bulb mode any other way but for those shooting long exposures it's not a hard thing to require.
